| Certificate of Destruction |
 |
The cancellation of an ELV license is compulsory by law. For that, a Certificate of Destruction issued by an authorized Dismantler has to be delivered at DGV (Traffic Authority).
When an ELV is delivered at a Reception Centre or a Dismantler, its owner should:
- Deliver the vehicle documents;
- Require the license cancellation.
When the ELV is delivered at a Reception Centre, this operator shall identify the vehicle, confirm the documentation and send it to a Dismantler, together with the ELV.
When the ELV is delivered at a Dismantler, this operator shall identify the vehicle, confirm the documentation and issue a Certificate of Destruction (legal draft version approved by the Order no. 9276/2004” of 16th April).
The Dismantler keeps a copy of the Certificate of Destruction and sends the following documentation, within five days counting from the date of ELV reception:
- The original of the Certificate of Destruction to the owner of the ELV;
- A copy of the Certificate of Destruction to VALORCAR;
- A copy of the Certificate of Destruction to DGV, accompanied by the vehicle documents;
When the documents and the Certificate of Destruction are received, DGV shall enforce the cancellation of the license and communicate this to CRA (National Registry of Vehicle Ownership).
